Diabetes Group get surprise of cash donation from Lions Twenty12

At a recent meeting of the Market Harborough and District Diabetes UK support group, there was an unexpected presentation of a cheque from the LionsTwenty12 group. They handed over a cheque for £135 raised at a coffee morning they held in the Harborough Theatre lounge. The Lions group decided that money raised at this event would be donated to Diabetes UK.

Chair of the diabetes group, Jim Knights, assured the donors that all the money would go towards supporting research at universities in the Midlands. The presentation was made by Lesley Croft and Jenny Glithero who is a committee member, of the Lions group.

The Meeting of Diabetes UK, at Roman Way day centre, was a show of movies by the Market Harborough Movie Makers. The movie makers visit every year to show some of their films and they are very much enjoyed by all members. The films included a history of the canals, what happens over a year at Welland Valley Vineyard and the story of the town's three former cinemas, as well as a review of what club members like to make movies about.
